Meet Melanie Simison

For most of Q3 2024, Melanie has supported Broward Health with an Epic installation spanning multiple facilities.

What do you like best about your work?

Having worked on the provider side for 41 years, I enjoy being able to really make a difference—not just for the technology team I’m working with, but the healthcare system as a whole, too.

What’s your biggest takeaway from your work at Broward?

Over the years I’ve learned that it’s really important to help teams understand that the qualms and frustrations aren’t unexpected—that they aren’t alone in the challenges they’re facing. Then, of course, we need to make sure that as consultants, we mitigate and help them overcome those challenges.

What do you like about working with Innovative?

Innovative does a great job of balancing the needs of their clients with the best interest of their consultant resources. They provide consultant access to the organization’s leadership and genuinely value input from consultants in the field.

What’s your favorite book or movie and why?

One of my favorite books is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Historical fiction like this provides a glimpse into the trials that earlier generations have faced and how they dealt with them. Reading about the mistakes and lessons learned by others can help us not to repeat the same missteps!
